The firm has appointed Chiu Wai Man as Hong Kong country team head, according to an internal memo. She came from Hang Seng Private Bank, where she led a team of 30 staff who service high net worth clients. She first joined Hang Seng in 2013 and has 17 years of banking experience.
Joining Chiu’s team are desk head Jonathan Yeung and client advisors Aubrey Cheung, Connie Chan and Raymond Yung. They all joined UBS Wealth on 7 May and were also from Hang Seng. All four new hires previously reported to Chiu at Hang Seng, according to a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman at UBS Wealth.
In the next 12 months, Chiu will continue building the team by hiring more client advisors, the note added.
UBS Wealth has also made internal appoints. Kenny Wai was made country head for Hong Kong, replacing Adeline Chien, who is now regional market manager for Hong Kong.
Both Chiu and Wai report to Chien, according to the note.
Wai joined UBS in 2012 and was previously desk head for both Hong Kong and China international markets. Before UBS, Wai worked in different roles, including compliance officer and client advisor at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.
“These appointments will continue to strengthen our leadership position and growth in the Hong Kong high net worth segment,” the firm said in the note.
Previously, UBS Wealth made several appointments to expand coverage in Asia.
This week, it announced the appointment of Connie Ong as market head for Malaysia. Ong, who will assume her role next month, was previously Bank of Singapore’s Malaysia market head.
The firm also expanded its Greater China coverage with three new appointments that will cover Chinese ultra high net worth investors.
