UBS has promoted Tasos Zavitsanakis and Valerie Lau to lead its sustainable finance team in Asia-Pacific.

Zavitsanakis, who is head of sustainable finance for Greater China, and Lau, who is head of sustainable finance for Singapore and southeast Asia, replace Desmond Kuek, who is heading to Temasek Trust, the philanthropic arm of the Singaporean state investment company, to become CEO.

Globally, Michael Baldinger, UBS’ chief sustainability officer, will now chair the sustainable finance group.

“While Desmond is a strong asset to us, we are proud and excited that he was selected for this significant leadership role in Temasek Trust, continuing in the domains of philanthropy and sustainability that he has been driving in UBS,” said Edmund Koh, president of UBS in Asia Pacific.

“We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with Desmond in his new capacity and together contribute further to the positive sustainable outcomes for the wider community.”

“UBS has been an amazing organisation to be a part of, with its strong collaborative culture and wonderful colleagues,” said Kuek.

“Moving on to Temasek Trust is both humbling and exciting. I’m honored to join the team on its shared vision to advance philanthropy as a force for good.”
