UBS GWM hires Apac capital market co-heads

The Swiss firm taps rival wealth managers for joint leaders of capital markets in its Asia-Pacific wealth unit.

Nicola Pantone and Rodolphe Larqué will succeed Conrad Huber as new co-heads of UBS Global Wealth Management Capital Markets in Apac, according to a statement by the firm.

Pantone joins from HSBC where he was head of wealth sales for Apac, running a cross-asset, multi-product salesforce since 2016. He lead equity derivatives sales teams for Apac at HSBC, for Hong Kong at Société Générale and for London and Hong Kong at Deutsche Bank.

Larqué has been poached from Credit Suisse Private Banking, Apac, where he was head of managed solutions in the region and head of products for Singapore. He managed a team of around 50 product specialists across Asia Pacific. Before that, Larqué was head of fund solutions Apac at the bank, with responsibility for fund selection and advisory. He was also head of structured products advisory, Apac, spending 10 years in structuring and advising on structured products.

Both bankers will start in October 2021 and will report functionally to Patrick Grob, co-head of distribution, investment banking (IB), global markets.

Pantone will be based in Hong Kong and report locally to Dan Murphy, co-head of distribution, IB global markets Apac. Larqué will be based in Singapore and report locally to Eric Lafon, co-head of distribution IB global markets.

Meanwhile, Conrad Huber has taken on the role of business sector head for Greater China, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and international.

UBS GWM restructured its business in 2020, when it launched a collaboration between its global wealth management and investment bank operations and unified its capital markets teams in GWM Switzerland and international.

The combined teams have generated 86% of their fiscal year 2019 revenues in the first six months of 2021, according to the bank.
