Boriboon Niyomsathien has been promoted to business sector head GWM Thailand and Robert Rohner to business sector head GWM Philippines, according to an internal memo seen by FSA.

Their elevation follows the departure of Foo Tian Ong to Standard Chartered earlier this month, who had been business sector head for both countries,

The duo will report to Jin Yee Young, co-head of UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM) Apac, and their appointments are effective immediately.

Both Niyomsathien and Rohner are UBS veterans, having been with the firm for close to 18 years and 30 years respectively. They were previously market team heads for GWM Thailand and Philippines.

“Thailand and Philippines are key priorities for our wealth management business in the region. We are confident that under Boriboon’s and Robert’s leadership, we will further sharpen our focus on these key growth markets and deepen our services in Southeast Asia as our commitment to our clients here remains our top priority,” said the memo, which was signed off by Young and Amy Lo, chairman GWM Asia and co-head GWM Apac.

Following the appointments of Niyomsathien and Rohner to their new roles, UBS also promoted Jamin Ong and Kenny Ng to market team heads GWM Philippines and Tirawadi Towon to market team head GWM Thailand

“These appointments are a strong testament to the deep talent pool within our organisation and our firm commitment to investing in and growing our talents,” according to the memo.
