In her role as deputy CEO, Leung will assist the CEO, Ashley Alder, in key policy areas and on the regulator’s long-term strategy.

The SFC did not provide further details.

Leung first joined the SFC in 2015 as executive director overseeing the investment products division. She replaced Alexa Lam, who was planning to retire.

At the time, Lam was also the regulator’s deputy CEO, according to a statement of her re-appointment to the role in 2014.

After one year with the SFC, Leung was appointed executive director of its intermediaries division, which is responsible for licensing requirements and supervising licensed corporations.

After Leung took on her new role, Christina Choi was named executive director of investment products. Choi was previously senior director of investment products.
