China in transition: from heavy industry to the data economy

“Most businesses today follow the so-called 80/20 rule, where 80% of their revenues come from 20% of their clients,” writes Gary Greenberg, head of EM, in this analysis of China’s move into a new economy. “Alibaba wants to turn this model on its head, serving the 80% of people who don’t have access to the global marketplace for 20% of the profit.”

   

 

The digital fund distribution revolution

In this white paper, Calastone examines the funds ecosystem globally and the drivers of change that are impacting today’s fund distrbution model. It also explores the role of technology such as robo-advice, transaction automation and blockchain, and how funds industry participants can leverage these to their greatest effect.

   

 

Half-yearly Review of the Global and Local Securities Markets

SFC’s review of the global markets outlines how the major markets in the world performed, as well as risks that they currently face. For the Hong Kong market, the risks include concerns over a revival of renminbi depreciation pressures, uncertainties in Europe over Brexit negotiations and the risk of a possible correction amid higher valuations.
