RBC WM plucks senior exec from ANZ

RBC Wealth Management has appointed Rohit Bhalla as Singapore-based executive director and team head for the bank’s Southeast Asia business.

Bhalla is responsible for building client relationships and reports to Tho Gea Hong, Singapore-based head of wealth management for Southeast Asia, according to a statement from the firm.

Bhalla assumed his role on 19 January, a London-based RBC spokeswoman said, adding that his role is newly created. She declined to elaborate on the markets he will be focusing on in Southeast Asia, his team’s size or further hiring plans.

Bhalla has 16 years of experience in financial services. Before RBC Wealth, he was senior director and team head for Singapore private banking at ANZ, according to the statement.

FSA contacted ANZ about Bhalla’s replacement, but did not receive a reply.

RBC Wealth Management has around C$875bn ($667.5bn) of assets under administration and C$580bn of assets under management, according to the statement.
