Hong Kong-based Raffles Family Office (RFO) has appointed Simon Lints to the newly created role of strategic advisor, according to a statement from the firm.
Based in Singapore, Lints will be responsible for driving the firm’s expansion and business development in Asia, particularly in Southeast Asia. He will report to founder and CEO Chiman Kwan.
Lints was Schroders’ Singapore CEO for wealth management, according to the statement. Before that, he was at Credit Suisse.
“His appointment is an integral part of our robust growth strategy and underscores our commitment to accelerate the firm’s expansion in Asia,” Kwan said in the statement.
The firm has been targeting the Southeast Asia market, as it already has two dedicated bankers focusing on Thailand and Indonesia, Jaydee Lin, Singapore-based managing partner at RFO, said previously.
In addition, Lints’ appointment follows the hire of Marvin Koh last month as managing director and relationship manager. Also based in Singapore, Koh is responsible for growing the firm’s client base of ultra high net worth individuals and wealthy families in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Both hires are part of the firm’s plan of growing its office in the Lion City. The office now has about 20 staff from two people in 2018, when the firm set-up its Singapore office.
The Singapore team includes seven relationship managers, one portfolio manager and admin staff, Lin said. The Hong Kong office, which has 35 staff covering portfolio management, compliance and legal counsel, provide support to the Singapore office, Lin said in a recent interview. “The Hong Kong office is a very oiled machine, and we plan for Singapore to do the same.”
Besides Hong Kong and Singapore, the firm has offices in Taipei and Shanghai.
