Oaktree names Alex Prout as head of Apac marketing

Prout will also be the lead marketing representative for Japan.

Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., an alternatives specialist, has appointed Alex Prout as the head of Apac marketing. In addition to this role, Alex will also serve as the lead marketing representative for Japan, operating out of the firm’s Tokyo office.

Prout has 38 years of professional experience, and has held prominent roles at Nuveen, Deutsche Asset Management, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Invesco, and Merrill Lynch in both Japan and the United States, according to a statement by Oaktree.

“Alex’s impressive track record and deep knowledge of the Japanese and Apac markets make him an invaluable addition to Oaktree’s marketing team,” said Todd Molz, chief operating officer at Oaktree.

Oaktree’s Tokyo office, which opened in 1998, has recently relocated to the Marunouchi Building in central Tokyo. Oaktree has offices in 25 cities worldwide, including nine in Asia Pacific: Hyderabad, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Mumbai, Shanghai, Beijing, and Seoul.

Oaktree specialises in alternative investments, with $203bn in AUM 31 March 2025, according to the firm.
