Nomura IWM taps HSBC for Southeast Asia group head

Private banking veteran Philip Kunz joins the firm and will be based in Singapore.

Philip Kunz has joined Nomura International Wealth Management (IWM) as managing director – senior advisor and group head, Southeast Asia, according to an internal memo seen by FSA.

Based in Singapore, Kunz will report directly to Anurag Mahesh, head of coverage for Southeast Asia, Global South Asia & Middle East, IWM.

Kunz has decades of experience in the private banking industry, building an extensive network of clients and talent across Southeast Asia. In this role, he will monetize not only his client access but also build out deep talent in this region, according to the memo.

Most recently, Kunz was head of global private banking for South and Southeast Asia at HSBC. Before that, he was at UBS where he held a number of senior wealth management positions, including COO of wealth management in Singapore and overseeing client management teams.

Earlier in his career, Kunz assumed various client relationship and management roles at Credit Suisse AG, ABN AMRO Private Bank and Clariden Leu in Singapore, primarily covering the Southeast Asia and South Asia markets.

 He graduated from KV Zurich Business School of the Swiss Association of Commercial Employees in Switzerland.
