New leaders of Schroders client groups promoted in Asia

Jason Yu and Katherine Cox head up Schroders’ client groups in Hong Kong and South Asia.
Despite having prominent fund managers at the helm, both funds are managed in a collegial style, Dobrescu noted. Marion Le Morhedec, who managed the Axa fund since inception, moved to a different role in the firm in the late 2016, leaving the fund in the hands of her long-term deputy manager Jonathan Baltora, who joined the team in 2010. While the change is significant, Dobrescu said she maintained her confidence in the continuity of the management. “[Baltora] has a very good handle on the portfolio, knows all the positions and is really able to articulate the strategy very well,” she said. Baltora is supported in his role by the rest of the eight-person global rates and inflation team. The lead manager of the Pimco fund is Mihir Worah, a “Pimco veteran” who was one of the key people promoted in the wake of the departure of the superstar fund manager Bill Gross in 2014. Worah was named one of the six deputy CIOs in the flat structure the firm adopted after Gross’s departure. “We are very happy with the quality of this duo [of Worah and co-manager Jeremie Banet],” Dobrescu said, and its third member Michael Althof. They also rely on Pimco’s large resources for quantitative work and derivatives management, used in the fund’s bond-plus tactics.

Schroders has announced that Jason Yu has officially taken up responsibility for the client group in Hong Kong, effective August 2025, while Katherine Cox has been named head of client group, South Asia and global official institutions, with immediate effect.

They both report to Gopi Mirchandani, head of client group for Asia, who commented: “Katherine and Jason have had extensive years of success in their roles with Schroders and I’m very happy to have them take on these new and exciting challenges in managing our franchises in South Asia and Hong Kong, respectively.”

Jason Yu

Yu (pictured left) is also the CEO for Schroders’ business in Hong Kong, and since joining the UK asset manager in 2017, he has held various leadership positions, most recently as head of multi-asset and fixed income management for Asia, based in Hong Kong.

His background ranges across investment product management and analysis, trading, client relations, and strategic business development, according to a press statement.

Katherine Cox

Based in Singapore, Cox (pictured left) will play a central role in shaping client strategy and business growth across Southeast Asia and represent Schroders in its strategic joint venture with Axis AMC in India, the statement said.

Since joining the firm in 2001, she has held various leadership positions, most recently as head of client proposition. Cox will also continue to lead the firm’s global official institutions segment, which includes sovereign wealth funds, central banks, and other global public sector clients.
