MFS Investment Management (MFS) has appointed Laura Reardon as a fixed Income institutional portfolio manager (IPM) within its emerging market debt (EMD) team, which covers markets such as China, India, Malaysia and the Philippines.
In this new role, Reardon (pictured) will be a member of the portfolio management team and an active participant in portfolio strategy and positioning discussions.
She will be responsible for representing the views of the investment team through direct engagement with clients and prospects, communicating portfolio investment strategy and positioning, according to a statement by the US asset manager.
With nearly 15 years of industry experience, Reardon joins from Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where she focused on emerging market debt strategies. Previously, she spent six years as an emerging market debt product specialist and client manager at BMO Global Asset Management. Before that, she worked in client-facing roles at Aviva Investors, Barclays and Abrdn.
Based in London, Reardon will report to Andy Windmueller, head of institutional fixed income, and will work closely with fellow IPM Katrina Uzun and the wider EMD team.
Commenting on her appointment, Windmueller said: “MFS has a long history of managing emerging market debt assets, launching its first EMD strategy over 25 years ago.”
“We see a lot of interest from clients in Europe in this asset class as EMD may potentially offer attractive income, return and diversification potential. Having this new role based in London will be integral as we continue to support our clients across the region.”
