Maybank AM feeder fund targets the risk-averse

The Malaysian firm has launched a fixed income feeder fund, which invests in an Asian fixed income product managed by its Singapore arm.

The Maybank Bluewaterz Total Return Fund invests in the Maybank BlueWaterz Total Return Bond Fund (target fund), which in turn allocates its assets into local currency or US dollar-denominated Asian bonds.

The open-ended fund targets sophisticated investors who have a low risk appetite but seek stable returns, said En Badrul Hisyam Abu Bakar, chief executive.

“Investors can expect lower volatility in comparison to equities and global bonds,” Bakar added.

In June, the firm launched, the Maybank Bosera Greater China ASEAN Equity-I Fund which seeks to tap opportunities in Greater China and ASEAN. This fund is approved under the ASEAN fund passporting initiative.
