Eastspring, the investment management unit of Prudential, said Tang will be responsible for growing its business in Malaysia and further developing client relationships.
Tang joined Eastspring from CIMB-Principal Asset Management, where he held a variety of roles including head of international and institutional business and chief investment officer of ASEAN region.
Previously, he was the chief investment officer at CMS Dresdner Asset Management.
Tang is currently the chairman of the Malaysian Association of Asset Managers as well as the chairman of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia index advisory committee.
Guy Strapp, CEO, said Tang’s experience in management, investment and distribution will support his role of expanding the brand in the Malaysian market.
In the past few months, Eastspring has appointed a new investment services head based in Singapore, and poached King Lun from Bank of China (Hong Kong) Asset Management to be the Hong Kong CEO.
