The Netherlands-headquartered asset management company has hired Eastspring Investment’s Ashish Goyal as head of emerging market equity and also appointed Robert Holmes as senior portfolio manager emerging market equities.
Goyal who has more than 20 years of experience in the emerging markets will take charge of his role on 1 October will be responsible for expanding the emerging market equity capacity and capabilities, the fund house said.
He will be based in Singapore and report to Eric Siegloff, deputy chief investment officer.
Holmes who will be joining ING IM in early September will report to Goyal. Holmes joins ING IM from Griffin Capital Management, where he worked as a fund manager for the past seven years.
Based in London, he will take responsibility for ING IM’s Emerging Europe strategies.
Holmes too has more than 20 years of experience in emerging markets and over the past 10 years worked as a specialist fund manager in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
In November, the Dutch asset manager also expanded its emerging market debt capabilities, appointing two senior portfolio managers.
Portfolio managers are seeing ample investment opportunities in emerging markets due to their attractive valuations as compared to developed markets and also on the back of strong growth prospects.
