HSBC Malaysia’s wealth academy aims to elevate the role of its relationship managers, wealth managers and product specialists.

“The establishment of the wealth academy is aligned with HSBC’s aspiration of being the international bank of choice for affluent customers, supporting their domestic and international banking, and holistic wealth management needs,” said Linda Yip, country head of international wealth and premier banking, HSBC Malaysia.

The academy offers a multi-channel learning approach, which combines on demand, virtual learning with workshops and face-to-face sessions that will support engagement and appeal to different learning preferences, according to Yip.

It also features workshops through partnerships with leading financial education partners, international academic institutions and industry experts.

“Participants who have displayed exceptional skills and qualities in their roles will ascend to the wealth excellence aspirational programme,” said Yip.

They will have the opportunity to attend a role-specific wealth excellence course from a global leader in financial education, partake in HSBC’s regional wealth symposium which is held at its global training centre in Nansha, China, as well as obtain a certification from a globally renowned business school.

“The launch of the wealth academy complements HSBC’s expanding wealth proposition in Malaysia as the wealth continuum in the country continues to grow,” said Yip.

In March last year, HSBC Malaysia launched premier elite, an service for high-net-worth individuals that offers bespoke structured investments, dedicated bond services, wealth and legacy preservation, international banking services and privileged elite concierge services offered by the bank’s partners.

This was followed by the opening of HSBC Malaysia’s flagship wealth centre in the Tun Razak Exchange in January this year.
