Co-managers Nick Ford and Hugh Grieves have run the Miton fund since launch in 2013, according to McDermott. Ford has 20 years of experience managing equity funds and previously worked at Scottish Widows, Gartmore and Sun Alliance. Grieves also has around two decades’ worth of investment experience. Previously, he worked on the US smaller companies fund at Gartmore between 1995 and 2000 and also managed the technology funds at Societe Generale Asset Management from 2000-2009.
McDermott said he does not have concerns over the Miton fund, given the managers’ long experience runing equity funds.
Turning to the Schroders fund, McDermott noted that the product had a change in management recently. Robert Kraynor took over in March this year as the previous lead manager, industry veteran Jenny Jones, decided to retire.
Despite the manager change, McDermott still has confidence in the team. He added that Kraynor has been a member of the team since 2014.
“Kraynor officially became co-manager of this fund in January 2018, but has been recognsied as such since 2014 when he was appointed director of small- and mid-cap research,” he added.
