“Small-cap fund fees on average are going to be more expensive than large-cap,” Share said. The capacity issue is one reason, but also some of the smaller companies are more expensive to access.
The median OCF for the retail share class in the category is 1.95%. The Manulife fund charges 2.01% and the Templeton fund 2.25%, placing both funds on the expensive side, with Templeton topping the scale. “There’s more room for improvement for Templeton,” Share noted.
