HEAD-TO-HEAD: Jupiter vs Matthews Asia
FSA compares the Jupiter China Select Fund and the Matthews Asia China Dividend Fund.
Manager review
The Jupiter fund is managed by Ross Teverson, the firm’s head of strategy on the emerging markets equities team. Teverson, who has run the fund since 2015, is based in London. He is supported by assistant fund manager Charles Sunnucks, who previously lived in China for several years, according to Ng.
Additionally, the eight-member EM equities team generates ideas through discussion and contributes to the China-focused strategy, Ng said.
Lead manager for the Matthews Asia fund is Sherwood Zhang, who took over earlier this year.
The former lead manager, Yu Zhang remains on the team as a co-manager. He is also the key person for all income strategies at Matthews Asia.
Ng said the switch of responsibility internally does not change the fund’s strategy and investment process.
The managers are mainly assisted by two analysts, Ryan Rutkowski and Yinyan Ibanez from an investment team of 30 people.
