Hyun Ho Sohn started co-managing the Fidelity fund in October 2013 before assuming sole portfolio manager responsibilities in October the same year, according to McDermott.
Sohn joined Fidelity in 2006 as an equity analyst covering the industrial sector from South Korea. He began covering technology stocks in 2010 and relocated to London in 2011 to help manage a Fidelity-seeded global technology pilot fund.
Turning to the T Rowe Price offering, McDermott said that Alan Tu began managing the fund in March 2019. He replaced Josh Spencer, who took over the firm’s New Horizons Fund. Spencer had been managing the global technology fund since 2012. According to a Morningstar document, Tu has worked closely with Spencer as a technology analyst since he joined the firm in 2014.
McDermott does not have any concerns with the fund managers, as both are experienced and have ample support from well-resourced analyst teams.
However, he noted that he will continue keeping an eye on the T Rowe fund, given that is now led by a new manager.
