HEAD-TO-HEAD: Blackrock versus Threadneedle

FE Analytics has awarded the Blackrock fund two crowns and just one crown to the Threadneedle fund. The crown-rating methodology assesses the fund’s alpha, volatility and consistency of performance.

Ng agrees with his firm’s preference, and adds that FE considers that the Blackrock fund is one of the best in the UK equity fund universe.

“It has a strong, well-resourced team, its stock selection process works and its strategy has been highly effective, as reflected in the fund’s historical performance,” said Ng.

Investors in the Threadneedle fund might have to take a long-term view and be patient in order to enjoy better returns.
