HEAD-TO-HEAD: Axa IM versus T Rowe Price

The lead portfolio manager of the Axa fund is Jeremy Gleeson, according to McDermott. He has managed the fund since 2007 and has 18 years of experience managing global technology equities.

Turning to the T Rowe fund, McDermott said that it is managed by Alan Tu, who started managing the fund in March last year, replacing Josh Spencer, who took over the firm’s New Horizon’s fund. Although Tu was just named lead manager in 2019, he has worked closely with Spenser as a technology analyst since he joined the firm in 2014.

McDermott does not have any concerns with the fund managers, as both are experienced and have ample support from well-resourced analyst teams.

In terms of fees, the Axa fund has ongoing charges (OCF) of 0.82%, while the T Rowe Price is more expensive at 1.02%, McDermott said.
