HEAD-TO-HEAD: Alquity versus Fidelity

FSA compares two India equity products: the Alquity Indian Subcontinent Fund and the Fidelity Funds India Focus Fund.

Management fees and other expenses charged by funds are important because they have a direct impact on returns for investors.

The Alquity fund is the more expensive with an ongoing charges figure (OCF) of 3% on the Hong Kong registered share class (which includes adviser commission).

“But there is a ‘clean’ share class available in Singapore which has an OCF of 1.9%,” McDermott said.

“It is also important to note that the business donates 10% of revenues to high impact projects in the regions its funds invest through the Alquity Foundation, which has awarded over $2m to help transform lives.”

The Fidelity fund has OCF of 1.93%, which is around the median for the India equity funds available to Hong Kong retail investors, according to FE Fundinfo data.
