Both the Aegon Industrial and E Fund products are managed by “talented and experienced” managers, according to Liang.
Xie Zhi Yu started managing the Aegon Industrial fund in 2013 and has been with the firm since 2007.
“Xie has consistently impressed us with his market knowledge and strong stock-picking skills across many sectors,” Liang said.
The E Fund product, meanwhile, is managed by Chen Hao, who took over the fund in 2014 and has 13 years of investment experience.
“Chen also built a stellar long-term track record on the E Fund Stable Growth Fund since 2012, which has a similar investment approach,” Liang added.
Both managers also receive ample support from analysts. Aegon Industrial’s Xie is supported by 26 research analysts, while E Fund’s Xie has direct support from his dedicated four-member investment team and has access to the firm’s 30 analysts, Liang said.
However, she noted that she is keeping an eye on their workload.
Aegon Industrial’s Xie, in addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, also serves as the firm’s chief investment officer and assistant general manager, leading a team of 13 portfolio managers.
E Fund’s Chen, meanwhile, was recently promoted as deputy general manager and currently runs six mandates, which collectively have assets of RMB 47bn ($7bn).
The management fee and custodian fee are standard for aggressive allocation funds in China, according to Liang. The funds charge a management fee of 1.5% per annum and a custodian fee of 0.25%.
Both the Aegon Industrial and E Fund products have a total expense ratio of 1.76%, which sits on the fourth quartile among their peers.
