Fees
There are 108 actively-managed funds in the international equity category available to Hong Kong and/or Singapore retail investors, and their ongoing charges figure (OCF) ranges from 0.25% to 2.56%, with a median 1.80%
The BNY Mellon fund’s 2.11% OCF is towards the top of the range, while ASI’s 1.69% OCF is slightly below average, according to FE Fundinfo.
“Neither fund is especially cheap,” said Poole.
“The ASI product’s recent performance perhaps raises questions about the fee it charges,” he said.
“Although the BNY Mellon’s fund is expensive, the OCF might be justified by the fund’s consistent ability to generate long-term alpha. You get what you pay for,” he added.
