The First State fund has been managed by Martin Lau since its inception in July 2003. Share said Lau is “one of the strongest Asian equity managers” and he is backed by “an adept investment team” of 17 analysts with an average 11 years of experience.
He has 21 years of investment experience and spent six years as a Greater China equities portfolio manager with Invesco before joining First State in 2002. Richard Jones became a co-manager in July 2013.
One point to note is that First State Stewart’s split into two distinct investment teams in July 2015 has added to Lau’s responsibilities as a co-managing partner.
For the Schroders fund, King-fuei Lee was has been the portfolio manager since the fund first launched in June 2004. “Valuable support comes from a deep analyst bench of over 40, based in seven offices across Asia-Pacific.”
