The ongoing charge (OCF) of the iShares fund, at 0.16%, is notably one of the cheapest in the category.
The Vanguard fund charges an OCF of 0.23%, which also is far lower than the 0.97% median of its active and passive peers.
However, Lamont said there is cheaper alternative managed by Fidelity which tracks the same index and charges only 0.1%.
“The difference of 0.13% might not be a lot in the active world but it is significant in the passive world,” he noted.
