Ng is impressed with the teams of both the HSBC and Fidelity funds.
“Both teams are very stable, so you don’t see much [management] turnover,” he said.
The HSBC fund has been managed by Hong Kong-based Cecilia Chan, the firm’s chief investment officer for fixed income, and Alfred Mui, since its inception in May 2011. Both Chan and Mui have been with the firm for a long time, Ng said, adding that Chan has been with HSBC for 25 years.
Fidelity’s portfolio manager, Bryan Collins, who is based in Hong Kong, first joined the firm in 2006 and has been leading the fund since 2009. He also manages the firm’s Asian bond fund and the China RMB bond fund.
