Frankfurt-headquartered asset manager DWS announced that current head of client coverage for Apac, Vanessa Wang, will assume a new role at DWS as head of Apac.

The change will be effective from 1 April when she will take over the role from Holger Naumann, who will return to Frankfurt as part of a planned retirement.

“[Wang] has long been familiar with the region and has demonstrated impressive leadership skills in knowing our business,” said Stefan Hoops, CEO of DWS.

“Her appointment represents the importance of Apac as a strategic region to DWS. We are happy to be able to cater to the needs of our clients on the ground together with and via our strong strategic partners.”

In her new role, Wang will be based in Hong Kong and report to Hoops.

She will also retain her current tole as head of client coverage for Apac.

Wang joined the asset manager in September 2021 from Amundi, where she led the institutional business in north Asia and the US.

She has also held various senior roles in Citi and Mercer prior to that.

Naumann has been the head of Apac for the last four years and was based in Hong Kong and subsequently in Singapore.

He has spent 42 years of his career at DWS and Deutsche Bank.

“At the same time, I want to thank Holger personally for his contribution and commitment to DWS and the region. We wish him all the best for the future in his new role in Frankfurt,” Hoops added.

He will return to the Frankfurt office to take on other responsibilities in the company after completing his work in Apac and is expect to retire at the end of the year.
