Axa IM expands with veteran hire

Axa Investment Managers has appointed Simon Weston as senior equity fund manager.

Weston will be on Axa IM’s Framlington Equities’ global team.

In his role, he will focus on Asia-Pacific equities and also provide support to the wider research team in Asia.

Weston reports to Mark Tinker, head of Framlington Equities Asia.

He formerly worked at Semeru CLSA Capital Partners in Singapore, where he was managing director and portfolio manager of the Semeru Asia Equity High Yield Fund. Prior to that, he served at Old Mutual Asset Managers, Perpetual Investment Management and Hill Samuel Asset Management.

“Simon will be an excellent addition to the equity team and our manufacturing capabilities in Hong Kong, but also to Axa IM’s wider global research structure,” Tinker said.

Axa IM, part of the Axa Group, had $773bn in assets under management at the end of June, according to the firm. It has regional offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
