Amundi strengthens investment team in Hong Kong

Aidan Yao has joined the largest European asset manager after spells at governmental agencies.

Amundi has appointed Aidan Yao as senior investment strategist, Asia within its research arm, the Amundi Investment Institute. He is based in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Amundi in October 2024, Yao (pictured) was chief economist, global macro, investment strategy and asset allocation research at Long Shine Asset Management in Hong Kong. 

Before that, he spent 10 years at Axa Investment Managers working as senior emerging Asia economist of global macro research.

From 2011 to 2013, Yao had a managerial role at the research department of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. From 2007 to 2011, he was a senior economist at the economic and financial market department at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Amundi Investment Institute, launched at the beginning of 2022, brings together Amundi’s research, market strategy, investment themes and asset allocation advisory activities
