Templeton hires for new multi-asset role in HK

Franklin Templeton has plucked Ricky Chau from ICBC Credit Suisse for the newly-created role.

Chau will serve as vice president and portfolio manager. The role has been created to cater to the rising demand from Asian clients regarding multi-asset products, a company spokesperson told FSA.

In his new role, Chau will be responsible for multi-asset portfolio management and product solutions within Asia, the firm said in a statement.

Based in Hong Kong, Chau will work closely with different functional units and investment offices to help deliver fund products that are designed to meet the income and total return needs of Asian investors.

Chau has 16 years of financial experience, with 14 years specialising in multi-asset solutions for Asian clients, the firm said.

Previously, Chau was at ICBC Credit Suisse Asset Management International in Hong Kong where he was director of global investment solutions. Prior to that, he held various multi-asset roles covering portfolio management, portfolio construction, investment research, and advisory in various firms such as Manulife Asset Management, AXA Investment Managers, and UBS AG.

“We believe [Chau’s] specific local expertise will be invaluable as we continue to see strong growth from Asian clients within the multi-asset spectrum,” said Rick Frisbie, head of Franklin Templeton Solutions.
