Aviva hires from Franklin Templeton for Asia head role

Richard Surrency most recently led Franklin Templeton's private markets and alternatives business in Asia.

Aviva Investors has hired Richard Surrency from Franklin Templeton as head of Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, he will report to Scott Callander, global head of distribution.

Surrency most recently led Franklin Templeton’s private markets and alternatives business in Asia and prior to that was CEO of Algebris Investments (Asia). He has also held senior roles at Morgan Stanley and BNY Mellon.

“Richard brings over 20 years of experience, exceptional leadership skills and strong relationships with major Asian institutions, including SWFs, pension funds, insurers and GFIs. His wealth of experience and expertise will be invaluable in this critical role given the significance, scale and potential growth opportunities in the region,” said Callander.
