Vontobel WM hires another from CTBC Bank

The firm has made a second senior level wealth management appointment in Hong Kong.

Vontobel Wealth Management Asia Pacific has hired Joannes Ho to serve in the newly-created role of executive director and senior relationship manager in Hong Kong.

Ho reports to Alex Fung, Asia-Pacific CEO. He will be responsible for advising clients and supporting the development of the business in the region, the firm said.

Previously, he worked for CTBC Bank as a director serving high net worth clients in Greater China. Prior to that, he worked for EFG Bank for 10 years, acting as managing director covering Greater China, Japan and Singapore market.

Last month, Christine Chen was lured from CTBC Bank to serve as senior relationship manager, another newly-created role.

The two appointments are due to the “increasing demand from Asian high net worth clients for sophisticated advisory and the global diversification of their assets”, according to a statement from the firm.

“Hiring key talent is an important part of our organic growth strategy in the region,” said Alex Fung, Asia-Pacific CEO.

Switzerland-based Vontobel held $192bn (CHF 187bn) in client assets at the end of last year.
