SGX appoints banker Loh as CEO

In February, SGX said Bocker is not seeking extension of his appointment beyond his current contract, which ends on 30 June. He has been the CEO of SGX since 1 December 2009.

Loh will take charge of his role from 14 July. Muthukrishnan Ramaswami, SGX president will be in charge in the interim period from 1-13 July.

Loh was previously deputy president and head of global markets for Asia-Pacific at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

He also was earlier a director on the SGX board from October 2003 to September 2012.

“In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, SGX has to adapt to stay ahead and I look forward to working with the stellar team towards this goal,” Loh said.

He started his career as an investment officer with the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 1989.  He also worked with Deutsche Bank, Singapore, where he held the posts of chief executive of the global markets division in Singapore, and head of global markets Asia, and head of corporate and investment banking for Asia-Pacific.
