First State to rename funds to Stewart

First State will rebrand specific funds, including three equity funds available in Asia, following the July split of the First State Stewart investment division into two entities.

Effective next month, all funds managed by the Stewart Investors team will be prefixed by “Stewart Investors” rather than “First State”, a spokeswoman for the firm has confirmed to FSA.

Rebranding impacts three funds available for sale in Hong Kong and Singapore, all co-managed by Jonathan Asante:

The First State Global Emerging Markets Leaders Fund will become the Stewart Investors Global Emerging Markets Leaders Fund.

The First State Worldwide Equity Fund will change to the Stewart Investors Worldwide Equity Fund.

The First State Worldwide Leaders Fund will be renamed as the Stewart Investors Worldwide Leaders Fund.

The name changes will not affect the fund umbrella structure, the investment objectives or policies or the team, she added.

“This renaming exercise is aimed at reflecting the brand of the investment team managing the funds,” the spokeswoman said.

On July 1, the First State Stewart investment team split to form First State Stewart Asia, based in Hong Kong, and Stewart Investors, based in Edinburgh and Singapore.
