Raffles Family Office (RFO) has appointed Danny Wong as a Hong Kong-based managing director, according to the firm’s Linkedin post.
Wong was previously at Standard Chartered Bank, where he spent his entire professional career for 31 years. He started with the bank as a management trainee and spent close to three decades in corporate banking, where he became the division head of the business.
In 2018, he moved to Standard Chartered’s private banking business as an executive director for relationship management, according to his Linkedin profile.
The firm has been building up its team in Hong Kong to expand its coverage of the Greater China region.
In August, it hired Edward Sit from Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing as its executive director and head of Greater China development. In May, it also appointed Stella Kong as managing director for Greater China.
The hires in Hong Kong follows after RFO established in October a Shanghai-based joint venture firm with I-Fast Corporation. It also has an office in Taiwan, where it started operations last year.
Hong Kong remains the firm’s largest office with about 35 staff, including relationship managers and investment professionals. The majority of the firm’s assets are also sourced from Hong Kong, particularly from offshore mainland Chinese clients.
Elsewhere, it has an office in Singapore, where it set up an office in 2018. The Singapore team has around 20 staff, including relationship managers, one portfolio manager and operational support.
Separately, RFO recently entered into a three-year partnership with Italian football club Juventus. Under the agreement, RFO and Juventus will collaborate on a range of branding and marketing initiatives.
