Lam joined the firm on 15 September and is based in Hong Kong.
The fund house now has two people on the Asia ex-Japan compliance team, which works with the teams in Japan, Australia, the UK and the US.
Paul McConomy, chief administration officer, Asia and Middle East, attributed the team expansion to significant growth of the fund house’s business in Asia.
“There are also a growing number of requirements and expectations from both regulators and investors in the current regulatory environment,” McConomy said.
Lam reports to Jeffrey Hiller, global chief compliance officer and McConomy.
At AXA IM, Lam was heading compliance functions for Asia and Japan. Prior to that, he also held several positions with Manulife, Alliance Bernstein and HSBC.
“Compliance is a critical function and we felt this was the right time to add strength and depth to our team…as we expand our business further in the region,” McConomy added.
