Pinebridge plucks two from Amundi for HK roles

Maggie Zhao and Leo Li have joined the firm to drive Asia institutional business.

Zhao joins as managing director of business development and reports to Rajeev Mittal, the Asia chief executive.

She will lead the four-person institutional team, which will focus on China, Hong Kong, Macau and the Philippines and is responsible for raising awareness of the firm’s investment capabilities and building relationships with institutional clients, the firm said in a statement.

Zhao was previously the head of China client coverage and development at Amundi,  a role in which she worked closely with institutional investors and third party distributors. 

Prior to this, Zhao was the chief representative for China capital markets at Calyon in Beijing. She also held roles at Credit Agricole and BNP Paribas.

Li joins as vice president of institutional business development and reports to Zhao.

He previously was vice president of China business development at Amundi.

Prior to this, Li was supervisor for the overseas investment division at investment management department at PICC Property and Casualty Company and was responsible for strategic asset allocation, asset management selection and portfolio performance valuation.

Zhao joined on 1 June 1 and Li joined in May.

“With Asia our largest region by funds under management, and a large and growing number of institutional clients in core markets in the region, the build-out of the dedicated business development team is a central part of our continued strategic expansion,” Mittal said.

In August 2015, Pinebridge appointed Blackrock’s Alfred Lee as vice president for institutional business development.
