Nuveen names Saira Malik as head of equities and fixed income

She is taking over from William Huffman who was promoted to CEO in June.

Saira Malik has been named head of Nuveen equities and fixed income, according to a statement from the firm.

She is taking on the position after William Huffman, who served in the role previously, was promoted to CEO in June.

Malik (pictured) will continue her role as Nuveen’s chief investment officer and chair of Nuveen’s global investment committee, the firm said.

Huffman said: “As a proven leader who has dedicated two decades of her career to the evolution and growth of Nuveen’s platform, Saira is ideally suited to take on leadership of the Equities and Fixed Income business.”

“In this expanded role, Saira will work closely with the talented leaders and teams who oversee more than $1trn in AUM across equities, global fixed income, munis, private placements, multi-asset strategies and C-PACE lending.”

Malik joined Nuveen in 2003 as an analyst and held various other positions before being named as chief investment officer in 2022. Prior to that she spent seven years at JP Morgan Asset Management.
