Nomura appoints Asia WM CIO

Nomura has appointed ex-Coutts MD Johnny Heng as its chief investment officer of wealth management for Asia ex-Japan.

The investment bank confirmed to Fund Selector Asia that Heng’s appointment is effective as of today.

Heng is based in Singapore and reports to Nobuhiro Sano, head of wealth management, Asia ex-Japan.

In this newly-created role, Heng will be responsible for the investment advisory and portfolio management teams within the wealth management group. He is also expected to work closely with the product team on Nomura’s global investment platform across asset classes.

Heng joins from Coutts, where he was managing director and head of investment services for Asia. He was previously head of investment consulting at Credit Suisse’s private bank and was a member of the management investment committee at GIC, Singapore’s state investment fund.

“Heng brings with him 20 years of experience in investments, covering all asset classes,” said Amanda Chen, deputy head of Nomura’s wealth management department.

“His global outlook on investing and regional experience in managing advisory teams makes him very well-placed to lead Nomura wealth management’s investment team.”
