Morningstar in research team reshuffle

Morningstar has realigned its manager research team through a series of appointments, including some in Asia.

Among the appointments, Chris Traulsen, based in London, will serve as global ratings leader, a new role in which he is responsible for Analyst Rating assignments globally. He will also oversee the newly-formed global asset class teams: global equity, global fixed income, global multi asset and alternative, and global passive.

In Asia-Pacific, Grant Kennaway has been given the new role of global practice leader. He will be based in Australia and oversee manager research practices around the world, including a new cross-border team for Europe and Asia.

Kennaway most recently was head of manager research for Morningstar in Asia-Pacific.

Wing Chan, based in Hong Kong and originally director of manager research for Asian markets, was appointed as co-leader of the cross-border (Europe and Asia) practice.

Chan told Fund Selector Asia that the new cross-border team would focus more on the open-end markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, which have more cross-border activities with Europe.

Jeffrey Ptak, global head of manager research said “by organizing the team into regional practices and establishing global asset class teams, we can drive research best practices and better respond to the diverse needs of investors around the world.”
