Reporting to Deborah Bannon, investments business leader, Greater China, Tan will be responsible for advising clients on investment strategy and portfolio construction to achieve their financial objectives.
Tan replaces Michelle Ng, who left the company in October. Ng joined Manulife Asset Management in December as managing director and portfolio specialist responsible for asset allocation strategies.
Mercer told International Adviser it has expanded the role to “encompass additional responsibilities reflective of the broad experience and capabilities of Tan and Mercer’s expanding offerings in Hong Kong”.
Tan joins from Towers Watson in London and has more than a decade of experience as an adviser in areas of risk and wealth management and general strategy consulting. She worked with Towers Watson since 2001, handling various investment-related roles.
In October, Mercer hired Steven Seow as Asia head of wealth management.
