Manulife Investments has launched the Manulife Global Semiconductor Opportunities fund in Hong Kong.
The strategy aims to capture growth opportunities in the semiconductor sector, actively investing in semiconductor-related stocks globally.
The fund launch comes just a few months after Ryan Davies, a portfolio manager of the strategy told FSA in an interview he believed the bull-run in semi stocks still has legs.
Davies, senior portfolio manager at Manulife Investments said: “Semiconductors are the backbone of modern technology, underpinning advancements in AI, automation, and digital transformation.”
“As AI adoption accelerates across industries, we see semiconductor demand expanding rapidly, with applications in data centers, edge computing, and AI-enabled consumer devices continuing to gain traction.”
He added: “While mega-cap players remain dominant, we believe there are compelling opportunities in under-researched semiconductor companies with differentiated technologies and strong competitive moats.”
The Securities and Futures Commission-authorised fund will be available through Manulife’s online fund platform InvestChoice.
Grace Ho, head of retail wealth distribution and direct digital business, Asia, Manulife Investments, said: “Investor interest in thematic funds continues to grow, and semiconductors have emerged as a pivotal theme within the AI revolution.”
“Through InvestChoice, we provide flexible access to the Manulife Global Semiconductor Opportunities fund to a broad range of investors, empowering them to integrate exposure to leading semiconductor names and broader AI-driven ecosystem into their portfolio while benefiting from active management strategies.”
