Julius Baer promotes regional group head

Christine Soong takes charge of Greater China at the Swiss private bank.

The appointment is effective immediately and Soong will continue to be based in Hong Kong.

Previously, the deputy group head for the region, Soong will report to Greater China private banking head and Hong Kong branch manager David Shick.

Soong will work closely with Shick to drive further growth in the Greater China market, a key part of the bank’s strategy, according to the bank.

“[Soong] is a seasoned banker with an outstanding track record of building businesses and strengthening client relationships, and her appointment underlines our commitment to expand our franchise in the region,” said Shick.

The wealth management veteran has over 30 years of industry experience and joined Julius Baer in 2018 as a team head.

She was elevated to deputy group head Greater China in October last year.

Prior to joining the bank, she held senior roles at Standard Chartered Private Bank, Core Pacific, KGI Wealth Management, and Taishin Holdings Hong Kong.
