Julius Baer hires Southeast Asia team head

Mun Joo Ng joins the Swiss private bank from Credit Suisse.

Mun Joo Ng will join Julius Baer as team head Southeast Asia. This is a newly created role and he will start on Monday, 15 January.

Ng will be based in Singapore, and will report to Kevin Tay, group head Southeast Asia

Ng is a veteran wealth manager and his background includes an eight-year tenure at Credit Suisse as a senior team leader, managing the Singapore desk.

Prior to this, Ng spent a decade at Citi Private Bank, initially as head of strategic marketing, and subsequently as a relationship manager for the ultra-high-net-worth segment.

“Southeast Asia is an important region for Julius Baer’s Asia franchise and we are committed to capturing significant opportunities in the wealth management industry here,” said a spokesperson.

“We continue to focus on expanding our business and our team by making key strategic hires to drive our growth in this vibrant region.”

Last December, the bank made key hires to expand its Greater China business.

Asia accounts for about a quarter of Julius Baer’s total assets under management and global workforce, with Singapore and Hong Kong the second and third largest group locations by employees, according to the firm.
