Loomis Sayles has announced the appointment of three staff members for its Singapore-based Asia credit team. They include Chow Thu Ha, the firm’s first Asia-based portfolio manager, and Zhi Wei Feng and Jeremy Teng, who were hired last year as senior credit research analysts. Chow has been with the firm since 2016 and started as a senior credit research analyst covering Asian corporate credits. In her new role, Chow joins Elisabeth Colleran in co-managing the Asia Bond Plus strategy. Feng will primarily focus on the Chinese corporate sector, while Teng will concentrate on Asian credits outside of China…

Global real estate manager Savills Investment Management has appointed Alex Jeffrey as its new CEO. He will join the firm in late-2019, subject to regulatory approval, and will be based in Singapore. Kiran Patel, the firm’s chief investment officer, has been acting CEO since mid-2018. Following Jeffrey’s arrival, he will also be appointed as deputy CEO. BMO Global Asset Management has appointed Stewart Bennett to the newly created role of global head of alternatives. Based in London, Bennett will oversee the firm’s newly formed global alternatives offering, incorporating its existing private equity, real estate and real estate securities businesses. The firm noted that the launch of the new global alternative offering is connected to the retirement of Nick Criticos from BMO Real Estate Partners after at least 20 years of service, including around 10 years as CEO…

Hedge funds

Investors redeemed around $13.69bn from hedge funds globally in March, bringing first quarter flows to a negative $14.92bn, according to an Evestment report. Outflows were driven by redemptions from long/short equity, macro and managed futures hedge funds…
