Fees
As fund research firm Morningstar points out, it is critical to evaluate expenses, as they come directly out of returns.
The ongoing charges figure (OCF) for the Franklin fund is 1.81%, which is about the same as the 1.80% median for US equity funds available to Hong Kong and Singapore investors, while the Loomis Sayles fund’s OCF of 1.15% is lower than the sector median, according to FE Fundinfo data.
“Both fund’s fees are reasonable in the Asian context where OCFs tend to be higher than in other regions,” said Poole.
“The managers of each of the products deliver strong alpha, which further justifies their fees,” he added.
