At the Fidelity strategy, Jeremy Podger is supported by associate portfolio manager Jamie Harvey and a vast bank of analysts at Fidelity, according to Parekh. The Europe-based equity analyst staff consists of more than 60 individuals and analysis of Asian equities is provided by Fidelity analysts based in that region.
As head of the 4Factor equity team at Ninety One, industry veteran Mark Breedon “has full use of all its resources,” said Parekh.
The team totals more than 30 individuals – “which is a significant number, albeit less than at Fidelity but has a higher average experience,” he said. There is also a relatively larger number of quantitative analysts to support the strategy’s proprietary model.
However, both funds have lost senior figures during the past few years, with the exit of “4Factor” co-head James Hand at Ninety One in 2017 and more recently with the departure of Amit Lodha, who had worked closely with Podger.
“In each strategy’s team, there has been some analyst turnover, but the level is within expectations and is not of concern,” said Parekh.
