The Fidelity fund’s ongoing charges (OCF) is 1.97%, while the First State fund’s OCF is 1.6%.
The Fidelity fund’s OCF is higher than the peer median, while the First State fees are appealing. The peer median average for Greater China funds is 1.91, according to Share.
“On the strategy level, Fidelity has $1.3bn in assets, while the First State fund is around $700m. Given that Fidelity has a bigger asset base, we would expect them to share those economies of scale with investors, and at Morningstar we like cheaper fees because we feel like this is going to be a factor that drags on net returns,” she said.
